Are you passionate about travel, gaming or sports? Have you ever wanted to build your own business? At the 10th CASSINI Hackathon, you’re invited to develop solutions or services made for consumers. Success stories start here…
Our participants get all the training and tools to utilise EU space data and reimagine the consumer experience. Over three days in Athens, you’ll hear from experts in retail, gaming and travel. You’ll explore the data available from Copernicus, EGNOS and Galileo. Then you’ll connect with other professionals to form a multi-skilled team. Your challenge? Pick one:
#1 Immersive gameplay with space technology and data.
Can you use Galileo’s positioning data to enhance dynamic gameplay? Utilise satellite connectivity for real-time updates? Or create your own core gameplay mechanics to integrate real resource management data?
#2 Space-powered performance - transforming sports
Could you use GNSS to improve athletes’ analytics? Create training plans which are adaptable to the weather and terrain? Or develop an immersive app for fans to feel like they’re running with their favourite players?
#3 Beyond horizons - redefining travel with space innovation.
Would you use satellite imagery and Galileo positioning to help travellers enjoy safer, sustainable trips? Build a tool for travel agents to make their service more personalised? Or create an immersive app which allows people to explore from anywhere?

You can join as a group or alone; you’ll be able to connect with other professionals to build a dream team.

Teams need creative and business people too! The Hackathon is open to everyone, at any stage in their career.
Prizes
During the Hackathon, teams receive the support they need to develop an idea, research the market, and design a compelling pitch. After 3 days, the judging panel picks 3 winning teams.
The top three Hackathon teams will win a total of 6.000€ in cash prizes: 1st place will receive 3.000€, 2nd place 2.000€, and 3rd place 1.000€. All winning teams will also gain 3 months of entrepreneurial support by the Impact Hub Athens team.
In anticipation of the Hackathon Weekend, we are thrilled to unveil The Big Ideas Campaign! This two-week-long event is the perfect opportunity to gain some valuable insights, and sharpen your skills prior to the big event!

Gain a practical introduction to Copernicus, Europe’s flagship Earth observation programme. Learn how to access and process satellite data through the Copernicus Data Space Ecosystem (CDSE) and openEO platforms. The session will walk you through using the online environment, exploring available datasets, managing data storage, and performing cloud-based analysis — helping you get started with Copernicus tools for research, innovation, or application development.
How to use the KINEIS kits
Learn how to set up and use the Kinéis development kits to build and test satellite IoT solutions. This session covers hardware basics, data transmission through the Kinéis constellation, and how to access and visualise your data on the platform. Perfect for developers and innovators exploring satellite-connected IoT applications.
Accessing Copernicus Data Space Ecosystem datasets via the Sentinel Hub APIs
This session will guide participants through practical ways to access and use datasets from the Copernicus Data Space Ecosystem with the help of Sentinel Hub APIs. You will learn how to connect to Copernicus datasets, integrate them into your own workflows, and make use of advanced functionalities such as on-the-fly processing and visualisation. The webinar is designed for developers, researchers, and innovators who want to streamline Earth observation data access and unlock the full potential of Copernicus for their applications.
