Join the Hackathon in Romania!

Is it time to add space technology skills – and a real project – to your resumé? Join the 11th CASSINI Hackathon to access EU space data and develop a solution which protects our natural water resources.

You don’t need any experience: you’ll get all the training and tools to utilise EU space data and tackle the issues of water scarcity, flooding, or pollution. Over three days in Bucharest, Cluj-Napoca, Timișoara or Iași, you’ll hear from experts in space tech and environmental industries. You’ll learn how to access datasets from Copernicus, EGNOS and Galileo. Then you’ll connect with other professionals to form a multi-skilled team. This edition has three challenges on the theme of water

  1. Securing equitable and efficient access to water
  2. Tracking and preventing water pollution
  3. Disaster risk monitoring

Romania has been affected by extreme water events in recent years, including floods in Galați and Suceava, prolonged droughts, and water pollution. In rural communities, there is inefficient water infrastructure and limited water monitoring. These challenges create a strong demand for scalable, data-driven solutions.

We have a lot to talk about and many opportunities for innovation! So join us to explore the ways that space data can help to protect and preserve our water resources – and begin building your own environmental start-up.

About the organisers

The Romanian edition of the 11th CASSINI Hackathon is organised by the Romanian Space Initiative (ROSPIN) in partnership with Impact Hub Bucharest. Participants can attend the hackathon in person in four cities across Romania: Bucharest, Cluj-Napoca, Timișoara, and Iași.

Romanian Space Initiative (ROSPIN) is the largest space education NGO in Romania, dedicated to building and strengthening the national space community. Through educational programs, events, and industry collaborations, ROSPIN supports the development of the next generation of space professionals. Following the 7th CASSINI Hackathon, ROSPIN continued to support the winning team CO2 Angels, which later won another major Romanian competition and evolved into an established startup.

Impact Hub Bucharest is part of the global Impact Hub Network, one of the world’s largest communities supporting innovation and entrepreneurship. Since 2010, Impact Hub Bucharest has supported startups, SMEs, and organizations through coworking spaces, incubation and acceleration programs, and large-scale innovation events.
